Welcome to the British Institute of Club Management
BICM Training & Networking Away Day.

Conference 2009 at the Hough End Centre was another year-on-year success and feedback from our delegates shows that our Education Programme covered just the right mix of contemporary and innovative subject matter for Club Managers.
The grim reality of the credit crunch and subsequent collapse in traditional markets is causing many Organisations to rethink their plans and consider how to better plan for the future, how to deliver in challenging times and how best to serve their customers.
BICM believes that part of the recipe for success is getting back to basics and looking within our Organisation for solutions.
In a groundbreaking new initiative, the British Institute of Club Management is introducing an Education, Training and Networking Awayday on Monday, 11 October at the prestigious Rolls Royce Club in Derby.
Opening this flagship event will be motivational speaker Alan Cutler, Chief Executive Officer, Hospitality Leadership Ltd. Alan will deliver the keynote lecture on Action Centred Leadership which concentrates on the leadership philosophy of renowned world authority John Adair. This management style recognises the importance of task achievement, team building and developing individuals.
Following this inspirational introduction to the day, Kevin Guy of BCG Ltd will deliver The Business Wealth Check demonstrating how to manage business in a financially robust way, explaining key accounting techniques and interpreting exactly what accounts tell us.
After lunch, leading licensed trade training specialist, David Hawbrook, Chief Executive of AVB Ltd, will deliver a practical hands-on session all about building expertise and professionalism in the club. This presentation will include the opportunity to sit the examination for the Award of the British Institute of Innkeeping’s Professional Bar Persons’ qualification. Taking part in this session will give delegates the tools and knowledge for them to train their own staff back in the workplace.
Paul Lovell, Chairman of BICM said, “We felt that the format of our Annual Conference training style event was getting a bit tired and like many other professional organisations we have moved to an intensive one-day format which includes the real key issues which can help clubs to be better, where our employees can build self-esteem and confidence in running outstanding facilities and where customers’ aspirations can be met.”
The BICM’s Gala Dinner will follow at the Club and this will once again be a lively event attended by delegates and leading suppliers to the hospitality industry, and for those who may wish to stay over, rooms have been reserved at the highly reputable Ramada Encore Hotel located nearby in Derby right by the train station.
For bookings see website www.bicm.co.uk or contact Executive Director, Glenn Ashley direct on 07976 371215 for this not to be missed top-ranking event in the Club Managers’ calendar.
On behalf of the BICM Directors I look forward to seeing you and perhaps your some of your colleagues at our Training & Networking opportunity at Derby in October 2010.
Yours Sincerely,
Rob Gerrard
Conference Director
