Awnings with heating are useful for landlocked premises

The canopy will need to be bolted to a solid surface so you may have to include the cost of concreting if you don’t already have a solid area.                                                      The basics:                                                        6 x 5m canopy: £3,000;                    Heating kit: £1,000;                          Lighting kit: £1,000;                                     5 x 6-seat table and chair sets at              £ 300.00/set £1,500.

 BESPOKE SHELTER

Good for:                                                        Clubs looking for year-round use. A bespoke wooden shelter is utilitarian and durable. It has integrated lighting, seating and heating. Painting the interior, adding seat pads and planting to the outside will soften the overall look.                                                                The basics:                                              10m2 x concrete base: £1,000 Bespoke shelter: £9,000.

Umbrellas with integrated light and heating work well for large gardens or pedestrian areas

Good for:                                                 Large gardens or pedestrian areas.

SUN AWNINGS

Good for:                                                  Town centre premises with unused alley ways, barrel or similar storage areas. This is a cheap solution that you can create yourself in a weekend.

Allocating funds to a smoking structure may seem galling, but with the right smoking solution, these areas can both extend the club’s useable premises and allow year round alfresco activity, where patio/outdoor heaters are installed.                                                     These ball-park figures provide a useful yardstick.
